School is in full swing, and we are happy to be a corporate partner of Notre Dame Cristo Rey High School’s Work Study Program. As a corporate partner, LCW CPAs enables four students (a senior, junior, sophomore, and freshman) to attend this quality, college preparatory high school and work in our office to earn their tuition while learning life skills including communicating, organizing, listening and prioritizing.
Background: The Cristo Rey Network
There are 40 high schools in the United States that are part of the Cristo Rey Network. These schools are the only high schools in the country that integrate a rigorous college preparatory education with four years of professional work experience. The schools are focused on educating urban, high school-age students living in areas with limited educational opportunities and having limited economic means.
Notre Dame Cristo Rey High School – An Overview
Notre Dame Cristo Rey High School (NDCR) opened in 2004 in Lawrence, MA and has since moved to Methuen, MA. As part of the Cristo Rey Network, the high school offers a quality, high school education to low-income minority students, primarily from Lawrence. The school educates students of any race and religion and incorporates a corporate work study program for students to earn the majority of their tuition with development raising additional funds and every family contributing.
Since 2008, Notre Dame Cristo Rey has maintained a 100% college acceptance rate and records a college graduation rate exceeding 60% while the national average is 9%. NDCR students become first generation college students, earning acceptance at leading colleges and universities including MIT, Notre Dame, and Boston College.
LCW CPAs and the Work Study Program
LCW CPAs is proud to be a corporate partner, sponsoring four high school students who are working for us through the end of the 2024/2025 academic year.
The NDCR students include Juliana, Abril, Perla, and Leahna. Each day of the week, one of the students is at our Lawrence office helping with a wide variety of administrative tasks including pulling client tax returns, filing, scanning, and providing phone coverage. In January, they will assist in 1099 form preparation.
All students arrive trained on Microsoft Office Suite software and have completed phone skills, dress for success, first impressions, and time management training.

Education is fundamental to achieving one’s dreams and helping these four students pave their way to college and beyond is an incredible way to make a difference. The four LCW CPAs work study students are interested in nursing or becoming a surgeon, criminology, working with children, and graphic design.
All statistics show the benefits of this work study program have a significant impact on the student’s life and the community as this high school model molds future leaders and positive contributors to society.
