If you are questioning ‘how secure is my data at my CPA firm’ you may want to reconsider your choice of accounting firms. Protecting client data through advanced data security is a top priority at LCW CPAs. Unfortunately, there continues to be increased risks to data security, and part of protecting our clients’ data is helping them avoid scams that are unfortunately so prevalent.
Three Measures Our Valued Clients Should Take:
- Use the Portal. Please send all information to us through the LCW CPAs client portal. This includes data such as credit card numbers, social security numbers, tax documents, and financial statements. Your data is safe with us, but it is important to always submit such information via our secure portal.
- Pay close attention to the sender’s email address. Email spoofing is increasing in frequency. If you receive an email from a bank, LCW CPAs, financial institution or sender that appears to be legitimate, do not open the email until you view the sender’s email address to confirm it is from the organization it appears to be from. The name and subject line might appear routine, but that does not mean the sender is legitimate. Scammers are very clever and creative, and it is important as individuals and business owners that you stay cautious and aware.
- Use multi-factor authentication. At LCW CPAs, we advise our clients to always opt for multi-factor authentication as another layer of security. It not only gives you peace of mind that your information is safe but also helps in recovering data if necessary.
We invest heavily in data security to protect our client’s data and to support our daily operations. From firewalls to multi-faceted authorization logins to cyber insurance, we take data security and cyber security seriously.
Be vigilant when it comes to protecting your business and personal data. While we strive to protect your hard-earned money, we also work hard to protect your data and help you achieve your goals. Contact LCW CPAs.
