It’s Busy Season. Please Be Kind.

by | Mar 24, 2024 | Tax Preparation

Happy Spring! For all working in public accounting, Spring most definitely comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb! Like the farmer, we have to make hay when the sun shines!

We would humbly ask you to be kind. Tax season can be a stressful time for business owners, individuals, and accounting firms. We’re tired, a bit grumpy and making the donuts as fast and as well as we can. We are not asking for sympathy as we know the drill, work hard on our client’s behalf and do our best to protect our client’s hard-earned money.

A Few Suggestions

From now until April 15th, a significant amount of work is completed in a compressed time period. If you can, leave your CPA, EA, or accountant alone. Let them get the work done on your behalf.

Are you thinking you need to make a change as you have outgrown your existing accounting provider? Now is NOT the time to make that change (no, we aren’t turning away business…just delaying new business for a bit!). For you and your business, stick it out…for now.

Take comfort that you are not alone as this is a common situation among business owners as you grow your business, your needs from an accounting service provider also change and usually grow in complexity.

Wait until the summer and ask for referrals to set up meetings with a firm who is better suited to your needs and your industry. We would be happy to meet with you.

As April 15th approaches, remember filing an extension is not a bad outcome. To learn more about extensions, read one of our recent blogs.

Let’s talk in the summer if you are looking for a proven firm with breadth of industry expertise to earn your business going forward. By then we will have caught up on some sleep.
