Employee Benefit Plan Audits

As part of our assurance and audit services, we offer an employee benefit plan (EBP) audit to comply with the Department of Labor (DOL) and its Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) of 1974. This audit is required annually for any business who offers their employees a 401(k) or 403(b) plan and has 100 or more participants.

For firms nearing having 100 participants in its employee benefits plan, we also offer audit services to help you prepare for an employee benefit plan audit including how to prepare for the documentation and procedures to have in place in advance of our completing an audit.

Form 5500: Annual Report/Return of Employee Benefit Plan

LCW CPAs prepares and files Form 5500 on behalf of our business clients. This annual report provides information about your firm’s employee benefit plan including basic information such as the plan sponsor, the administrator, number of active participants, etc. This filing is required by the Internal Revenue Services and the Department of Labor (DOL) under ERISA. The deadline to prepare and file Form 5500 is seven months after the annual year end of your employee benefit plan.
